About us
Welcome to the Alum Association of the School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG) – the bridge that connects past, present, and future leaders committed to shaping a brighter political landscape for Nigeria and Africa as a whole. At SPPG Alum Association, we serve as the guardians of continuity, fostering a nurturing environment where both SPPG alumni and faculty can continue to grow and thrive. Our mission is to provide a supportive platform that extends beyond the classroom, offering a network of opportunities and benefits to our valued members.
A Legacy of Transformation
Our journey began in 2019, when leading Nigerian intellectuals gathered in Berlin to address the urgent need for a new political order in Nigeria. Driven by the groundbreaking fellowship research of Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili at the Robert Bosch Academy, the #FixPolitics initiative emerged. It acknowledged the stark reality of underperforming public leadership in Africa, despite the region’s abundant natural and human resources. Her research illuminated a deeply rooted culture of leadership that often prioritized personal interests over the collective well-being of citizens.
In 2020, this commitment to change gave rise to three Work Study Groups led by ethical and mission-driven Nigerians. Their collective vision encompassed the establishment of a world-class learning centre, the revitalization of Nigeria’s value systems, the empowerment of the electorate, and the reform of constitutional, political, and electoral structures.
SPPG: The Catalyst for Change
The School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG) our parent organisation represents the Values-based leadership pillar of the #FixPolitics initiative. SPPG’s overarching goal is to redefine politics in Nigeria and throughout Africa. The School’s aim is to cultivate a formidable base and pipeline of new-age leaders, equipped with a foundation of values and disruptive thinking, armed with the knowledge and skills needed for effective leadership.
SPPG plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the #FixPolitics mission, which is centred on elevating the Office of the Citizen to its rightful place within our nation and cultivating a political class of servant leaders.
SPPG Alum: A community of Value-based leaders

Strategic Objectives
We are dedicated to rewriting the narrative of political leadership in Nigeria and Africa. It aims to leave a lasting legacy of positive change for future generations by fostering ethical, accountable, and transformative leadership.
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
To realize our commitment to ethical leadership and transformative governance, we have identified five strategic priorities that underpin our actions and objectives:
1) Growth and Expansion of the Mission of the SPPG: As a community, we will design and deploy initiatives targeted at expanding the reach and impact of the School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG) mission. We are dedicated to broadening the horizons of ethical leadership and good governance not only within Nigeria but across the African continent. This includes exploring opportunities for partnerships, outreach, and program expansion that align with our mission.
2) Equipping, Empowering, and Positioning the Alumni for Impact: Our second priority centres on our alumni community. We are committed to equipping our alumni with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to make a meaningful impact in their respective fields. We aim to empower them as influential agents of change who are well-positioned to contribute positively to the nation and Africa as a whole.
3) Collaboration and Engagement with the Alumni Network and Citizens: Collaboration is key to achieving our goals. We prioritize building strong relationships and partnerships both within our alumni network and with citizens at large. We recognize that collective efforts are more potent, and we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and engagement among our members and with the broader society.
4) Impact on the Immediate Community and Nation at Large: We are unwavering in our commitment to making a difference in our immediate communities and at the national level. This includes actively engaging in initiatives, projects, and advocacy efforts that align with our vision of ethical leadership, accountability, and good governance.
5) Accountability: Accountability is at the core of our values. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, ensuring transparency, responsibility, and integrity in all our actions and decisions. We are dedicated to being accountable to our members, stakeholders, and the broader public.
These strategic priorities form the foundation of our strategic planning and activities at SPPG Alum. They guide our efforts to create lasting, positive change in Nigeria and across Africa, shaping a future where ethical leadership thrives, citizens are empowered, and good governance prevails. Together, we are committed to achieving these priorities and realizing our vision for a brighter political landscape.
In essence, SPPG Alum is more than just an alumni association; it is a dynamic and purpose-driven community united by a shared vision of political transformation and a commitment to nurturing leaders who will make a meaningful impact on their nations and the continent of Africa as a whole.
